Welcome

This site is provided to help you to enjoy and appreciate the Sandlings Forest  (i.e. Dunwich, Tunstall and Rendlesham Forests)  which is located near the beautiful Suffolk coast. It is independently maintained  utilising information obtained from official Forestry Commission sources. 

 

We hope you will be encouraged to find out more about what you can do in the forests - go walking, running, cycling, bird-watching, dog-exercising, tree-spotting, camping, tracking, orienteering, horse riding, carriage driving . or, if you dare, look for UFOs...     Or you can just wander at your leisure, sit and enjoy the natural surroundings.

The Forestry Commission  stage a varied programme of events in the Sandlings Forest.  Copies of the latest 'What's on' can be obtained from the Forest office and Car Park kiosk in Rendlesham Forest.  They also provide two leaflets providing details of the waymarked walks in the Forest :-

programme of guided walks is organised by the "Stepping out in Suffolk" health walk  leaders. 

 

These short walks are suitable for adults and children of all ages and are arranged  at regular intervals throughout the year.

With the permission of the Forestry Commission, certain approved recreational clubs hold  Husky racing, Orienteering, Motorcycling and Carriage Driving events in the Sandlings Forest.  Click on photo below to follow link to the club's  web site
